A Good Reason to Use Office Plants

The reason that office plants are so great is because they spruce up the place and contribute to a more alive and healthy atmosphere. Everyone who has ever worked in a cubicle-type culture knows how it can easily devolve into a monotonous and dry (and quite frankly boring) place. When you bring some office plants and into your office, the effects will be noticeable right from the very start. Plants give off a nature vibe that infuses everyone and every surrounding thing, so that people feel like work isn’t such a bad thing.

I would caution you, however, against going with artificial plants. While this option may be a little better than none at all, it won’t really improve the mood in your office, for the very reason that it has no actual energy to give off. I like to put the foliage front and center rather than tucked away in a corner. When you display office plants proudly, it tells everyone that there is life here. It will be obvious to everyone that they can relax and breathe and enjoy their work. And studies have shown that this is actually a more productive attitude than to be stressed out and uptight.

Another thing I recommend is that you assign someone to be the caretaker of the indoor office plants. Otherwise, if it’s just left up to whoever, it may not get done for weeks at a time. People will think that it’s always someone else’s job to water the plants for the office, and they will wither away and die. One thing I like to do is post a schedule that people can check off when they do their little jobs.

Another little tip that I have learned is that the more office plants the better when it comes to decking out the workplace with some good old green plants. They will put oxygen into the air, so why not go with more rather than less? Not to mention the fact that this will only multiply the positive effects of the office plants. People, you simply have to inspire your workers somehow. When they are outdoor workers it’s not an issue, because nature is all around. But inside, well a screen saver of a waterfall just isn’t going to cut it. So my plea to managers everywhere is to please think about buying some office plants on the company credit card and making this a regular part of the office décor.

The perfect office plant would be whatever house plants would be good in your office setting. House plants that are good in low light settings might make the perfect office plants!
